Dr. Maury L. Fisher has been in private practice serving Polk County, Florida since 1989, and is the owner of Central Orthopedics, P.A.

Maury Fisher graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a double major in biology and chemistry with High honors (Magna Cum Laude), Phi Beta Kappa, and Mortar Board.

 

Dr. Fisher graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1984.  He did his internship and residency through the Oschner Foundation Hospital program in New Orleans, Louisiana.  During his residency he served 6 months in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He also served 1 year of residency at the South Louisiana Medical Center in Houma, Louisiana, for general orthopedic surgery. 

 

Dr. Fisher takes continuing education courses exceeding State Licensure requirements to maintain his skills and to learn new techniques in the field of orthopedic surgery.

Personal

With parents who taught music in the South Bend, Indiana schools, Maury learned to play cello and bass guitar.  He played in clubs and with the South Bend Symphony during high school and was a member of the musicians union.

 

Dr. Fisher volunteers at Victory Church in Lakeland to help in the sound booth for services and special concerts.

 

As a hobby, he has earned a commercial pilot’s license with an instrument rating and is rated to fly seaplanes as well as single and multi engine land planes. 

 

He is married and has a daughter in nursing school.
